The beauty and stamina of the pure-bred Arabian have long had a special appeal to horse-lovers everywhere. This sumptuous volume is both a glorious celebration of and an authoritative guide to the long history of Arabian horses across the globe. Beginning the story thousands of years ago, the lively, informed text then traces the role of the horse in myth and legend, exploring its true origins and its relationship with mankind. Along the way, it discusses the particular features and characteristics of the breed and describes its many strains and sub-strains. However, Drinkers of the Wind also shows how the appreciation of the animal quickly spread to other parts of the world, where it was quickly adopted and appreciated.

The main part of the book is then arranged geographically, exploring the horse today from Argentina to Australia, Eastern Europe to South Africa. To this is added a range of useful and fascinating information relating to the correct terminology, organizations dedicated to perpetuating the breed, and even interviews with famous breeders.

The definitive book on the Arabian horse, Drinkers of the Wind is a celebration of its ancient history, astonishing beauty and enduring appeal. A visual sensation, it is packed with simply stunning new photography by Rik van Lent Senior and Junior that captures all the grace. All in all, this is a book that cannot fail to charm and enthral horse-lovers everywhere.
